Glashütte Original unveils Senator Diary app also for the iPad

High-end German watchmaker Glashütte Original has unveiled its application as iPad version, dubbed “Senator Diary” after the only mechanical watch allowing the user to set an alarm up to 30 days in advance.

The app provides a functioning Diary for your iPad to remind you of those extra-special dates in your life. There is added value, too, in an interactive tour of the manufactory, games and presentations of selected masterpieces.

The Senator Diary app opens up with a splash screen showing this elegant timepiece running and displaying the current time and date. The Senator Diary’s most talked-about feature, the alarm mechanism, is illustrated in a brief video showing how to set the alarm on the original watch.

Five gold pushers on the splash page offer complementary entry points into the fascinating world of the Saxon manufactory. The first, labeled “Diary”, delivers added value in the form of an in-app calendar inviting the user to set personal appointments and reminders. As a key date nears, the Senator’s Diary’s original alarm signal rings – an effective reminder of occasions too important to miss.

The second pusher invites the user to explore the watchmaker’s current collection. "Overview" mode makes it easy to browse (in typical iPhone/iPad fashion) by simply flipping through images of the watches. Product information as well as technical details of each model are provided in the various sections, and several, including the Senator Chronometer and PanoMaticCounter XL, are highlighted by special animations.

Pusher Nr. 3, entitled “Handmade”, focuses on the watchmaker’s extraordinary depth of in-house manufacturing. An interactive tour takes interested users backstage at the manufactory in Glashütte, offering close-up views of the complicated process of making a mechanical watch today. The fourth pusher opens the door to a list of stores where users can easily locate the closest retailer, and pusher Nr. 5 presents a choice of two games: Watch friends are invited to polish a screw to a perfect shine, and then to blue it to just the right hue. A second entertainment, the “clockwise – counter-clockwise” game, challenges fans to test their knowledge of Glashütte Original timekeepers.
